Carnesky’s Ghost Train

Devised visual theatre ride

Brick Lane and Blackpool (2004-2014)

Directed by Marisa Carnesky

Nigel Edwards

The audience rode a fairground ghost train, encountering live performance – stories about women and migration – along the way. I collaborated with Paul Keive to create a number of Victorian illusions. As they took their curtain call, we made the entire cast disappear.

“The finale is a real jaw-dropper on the scale of any great theatrical twist.”

BBC Manchester

“…a shabby, faded, ornate beauty, like an exquisite woman past her prime. It is the spookiest and most magical ghost train you'll ever experience, a marvellous mix of technical wizardry and sheer heart and soul.”
